Guests of Honor

Tobias Buckell

Guest of honor for prose

A New York Times Bestselling and World Fantasy Award-winning author born in the Caribbean. He grew up in Grenada and spent time in the British and US Virgin Islands, which influences much of his work. Tobias currently lives in Bluffton, Ohio with his wife and twin daughters. He’s an instructor at the University of Maine’s Stonecoast MFA in Creative Writing.

His novels and over seventy stories have been translated into nineteen different languages. His work has been nominated for the Hugo Award, Nebula Award, World Fantasy Award, and the Astounding Award for Best New Science Fiction Author.

L. D. Lewis

Guest of honor for publishing and editing

An award-winning SF/F writer and editor, and publisher at Fireside Magazine. She serves as a founding creator and Project Manager for the World Fantasy and Hugo Award-winning FIYAH Literary Magazine. She also serves as the founding Director of FIYAHCON, board member for Diverse Voices, Inc., and pays the bills as the Awards Manager for the Lambda Literary Foundation. She is also the researcher for the LeVar Burton Reads podcast.

She frequently bothers the publishing industry by authoring studies about the treatment and experiences of racially/ethnically marginalized authors in speculative literature. She is the author of A Ruin of Shadows (Dancing Star Press, 2018), and her published short fiction and poetry includes appearances in FIYAH, PodCastle, Strange Horizons, Anathema: Spec from the Margins, Lightspeed, and Neon Hemlock, among others.

She lives in Georgia, on perpetual deadline, with her coffee habit, two very photogenic kittens, and an impressive Funko Pop! collection.
